TURKMEN CUSHION
£450.00An antique Turkmen chuval cushion, repurposed from a hand-woven tribal cargo bag (chuval) originally crafted by nomadic Turkmen weavers of Central Asia.
The face of the cushion features the iconic, highly structured geometric gul (tribal crest) medallions. These are intricately knotted in a classic colour palette of deep crimson, rich madder reds, jet black, and warm ivory, with subtle forest green accents. The top seam is bound with a heavy, hand-braided dark cord, preserving the utilitarian ruggedness of its original tribal form.
In nomadic life, chuvals were prized storage bags hung inside yurts to hold clothing and household treasures. The generous, wide proportions of this piece reflect that heritage perfectly, making it an incredibly impressive, large-scale bolster or floor cushion.
The cushion has been finished with a high-quality, complementary backing and generously stuffed with a luxurious, heavy wool interior insert. Due to the bespoke manufacture of the piece, the cushion cover is not removable or washable. Dab clean recommended, with a warm rung out cloth.

It has been finished with a high-quality, complementary new backing and generously stuffed with a luxurious, heavy wool interior insert.

CHUVAL CUSHION
£375.00Large Turkmen Chuval Cushion.
This impressive, oversized statement bolster cushion has been newly crafted in-house from an authentic antique Central Asian textile. The face was originally a late 19th or early 20th-century Turkmen Chuval (or Juval)—a large, hand-knotted wool storage sack woven by semi-nomadic Tekke or Yomut tribes to secure valuables inside their tents or during camel migrations.
The rich madder-red surface features repeating geometric gul medallions, which traditionally served as tribal coat of arms. It has been finished with a high-quality, complementary new backing and generously stuffed with a luxurious, heavy wool interior insert. Condition: Good antique condition overall. Please note there are two distinct areas of historic pile wear, measuring approximately 8cm x 5cm and 4cm x 5cm respectively. Due to the bespoke manufacture of the piece, the cushion cover is not removable or washable. Dab clean recommended, with a warm rung out cloth.

DRAW LEAF
£1,950.00French draw leaf provincial fruitwood farmhouse table.
It features a classic draw-leaf mechanism, allowing two extension leaves to slide out from beneath the main top, significantly increasing its surface area for entertaining.
There are visible old wood worm tracks (treated) and various timber patches/repairs, particularly around the breadboard ends and leaf joins. The table is structurally sound, though the extensions show some natural gapping and unevenness typical of early draw-leaf mechanisms. Overall a charming table.

PITH PORTRAITS
£395.00A charming and complete set of twelve 19th century Chinese pith paper paintings (historically referred to as "rice paper" paintings). Dating from the late Qing Dynasty (c. 1840–1880), these works were created in the studios of Canton (Guangzhou) specifically for the Western export market.
Each miniature leaf is painstakingly hand-painted in gouache, a medium that sits on the surface of the cellular pith to create a luminous, almost three-dimensional effect that remains remarkably bright over a century later.
The collection serves as a record of the period, featuring a diverse cast of characters including high-ranking officials, musicians and figures in courtly life.
The set is housed in the original Victorian-era cardboard presentation box with a glass lid.
The gouache pigments remain exceptionally vivid and saturated. As is characteristic of this fragile, organic medium, there are some natural fractures and peripheral chips to several of the pith sheets (as shown in the photographs), six of the twelve portraits have had repairs to the back . The original box shows typical age-related wear to the paper trim but remains structurally sound and provides excellent provenance.

The planter is further distinguished by an original perched lead bird fixed to the rolled rim—a charming detail typical of the Victorian period's fascination with bringing nature closer to the home.
There are some holes to the bottom of the planter, some of which look to be purposeful and make it perfect for use as a planter. These could be repaired to reinstate the piece as a bird bath. Whether used as a low-profile trough for planting or as a traditional bird bath, this piece offers a heavy, durable, and timeless focal point for any courtyard or garden border.
