Description
A fine example of Irish vernacular furniture, this late 18th Century painted dresser and rack is distinguished by its desirable, diminutive scale. Crafted with a wonderfully primitive aesthetic.
The lower section comprises a single enclosed cupboard door fitted with period iron strap hinges, with the entire piece retaining rich, authentic traces of its original old red paint. A rare and highly decorative survival of Irish country folk art furniture, perfectly proportioned for modern or historic interiors alike.
Condition: Original paint throughout, with some later historic timber replacements which have been well-painted and stained to match the original. Historic woodworm present as expected, this doesn’t affect the integrity of the piece.
