Description

A rare 19th century folk art primitive child’s stick back armchair, retaining an original distressed green paint finish.

Crafted with hand-hewn elements, this piece features a high-back design capped by a shaped, peaked cresting rail resting on five vertical spindles. The raked armrests feature scroll terminal detailing, supported by additional turned side spindles. A thick, single-slab solid wooden seat sits mounted on four splayed tenoned legs.

Condition: Structurally sound, small play in some of the joints but overall very sturdy. Old inactive worm that does not affect the structure of the piece. Losses to paint finish consistent with age and rustic folk origins.
