Description
A nice example of provincial French ecclesiastical metalwork, this wrought iron candlestand exhibits the characteristic of rural church furnishings. The triangular frame supports fifteen prickets.
The hand-forged iron displays subtle irregularities, reflecting its artisan, country-made origins, and is enlivened by decorative scrollwork. At the apex, a cross is formed with gracefully clasped scrolls, reinforcing both the devotional function and symbolic presence of the piece.
