Description
A fine serpentine sofa in the Hepplewhite manner.
An exceptionally elegant 19th-century sofa in the style of a late 18th century piece, featuring a classic serpentine-curved back and out-swept padded arms. The frame is supported by six finely carved legs.
The sofa is currently presented in a “country house” condition. The upholstery is usable but aged and would benefit from being replaced; the piece is sold as a candidate for reupholstery. Please note that the arm joints would benefit from tightening, a standard procedure best carried out by a restorer during the stripping-down phase of the upholstery process.
